Story
This is Pixie - she came to stay with us a month ago. She’s been a little like that elderly relative we said could stay with us until her nursing home bed opened up and then realized she fancied it here with us a lot better and now we’re having that awkward conversation. I am not a Chihuahua whisperer I admit, but wherever Pixie-poo was before she came to SandiPaws I suspect there was little to no human interaction. She’s not problematic to have in the house, you’ll hardly know she’s there. She doesn’t nip. Isn’t overly barky. Fully house trained. Kids would probably send her into cardiac arrest. She will take weeks to come near you voluntarily and probably months before you’ll be able to pet her. But she has made a lot of progress in the last month here with us. She follows me everywhere in the house, will take a treat from my hand, walks next to me on her leash, and occasionally will get a case of the zoomies and be goofy with us. She kennels well although she prefers a few comfy dog beds in rooms throughout the house. She loves her walks but startles easily. I attach her leash to my dog poop fanny pack to make sure there’s no chance of dropping the leash. A fenced yard would be ideal. She loves my dog. She doesn’t mind the cat. She eats on a schedule and loves her wet food. If you have experience with chihuahuas that are a little broken on the inside then this girl might be your next worthwhile project.
